| Home & Garden Satellite Dish Problem | donatella posted on 03/11/2009 at 12:16
e-mail donatella | A friend's satellite system has stopped working ("no signal"). We've substituted the box, checked the cable, replaced the plugs and the head on the dish. It is set up to receive the European satellites for UK programs so it points in a different direction to all the dishes in the area which are, presumably, French! Has anybody else had problems? Has the satellite fallen from the sky?! We've run out of options now, any suggestions? | donatella replied on 07/11/2009 at 17:56 e-mail donatella | Problem solved!
After doing some research on the internet I discovered that there is a voltage feed in the aerial wire to the head to power the amp and filter. Replacing the cable has solved the problem. Easy really, when you know what you are doing. Duh....

the problem is that you were always receiving a weak signal and with the current change in the weather has made the sattelite worse. It was probably withinn a MM of the signal and any movement could have been very severe to it.
the Uk decreased their sattelite signal a few months ago making it more directional and some have very good dishes and some do not. I recommend a min of 90 cm dish and the larger the dish the better the signal but you must also incorporate a very good head on the dish.....
Even with a sat finder there is two signals very close together and you must use the difficult signal.
This also has to deal with your box taking the weaker signal and processing it....
Kind Regards Kendal |
