Hi - does anyone know what the French call it and if they use if over here for their horses in winter? I have a 27 year old warm blood ex-brood mare (rescued) who would benefit from some specialist feeding over this winter. I have been struggling to get some 'veteran mix' here and never seen the likes of molichop either, which is what I would have fed her on in the UK. Would love to track down some sugar beet to soak for the horses and also some of the other farm animals - but I get blank stares and shrugged shoulders when I explain what it is at our local agricultrual coperative. Any ideas and help most welcome - thank you.

Hi Sugar beet is Pulpe de Betrave, comes in flakes or granules. I have to order mine from Gamm vert.
Also they have Floconai ( most probably spelt it wrong but the food shed is dark just now) comes in big green bags and tastes delicious... it's a great warm blood mix.

Many thanks for that Ladybird, I will go and see where I can get hold of some - thought betrave was beetroot...???

Lady bird is right: pulpe de betterave is sugar beet. Some people don't know about it over here because it is impossible to grow it in the South. They have to have it shipped from Northern France.

Is it very expensive? We don't have Gamm Vert anywhere that close by (nearest is about 60km) but I will try to order it through our local Point Vert which is much the same thing - just hope they don't need you to order it in bulk!
