Moving of Cars
If the vehicle is being imported from a country in the European Economic Area (EEA) and is a model that was subject to reception by type-approval (vehicles sold on a large scale in the country of origin or in France):

To register your vehicle, you must have the following:

  • either the original of a European certificate of compliance or a copy issued by the manufacturer or its representative.

With this document, direct registration is possible at the prefecture (grey card department).

  • or a certification of identification if you do not have the above document.

You may obtain this certificate from DRIRE by filling in an identification application or from the manufacturer, if the latter is French, or otherwise from his accredited representative in France. Should the manufacturer send you a technical certificate rather than an identification certificate, the vehicle must go through an individual reception procedure conducted by DRIRE.

For further information, please contact DRIRE or the prefecture in the department where you live.
